Spyderco Draws the Line on Prices for 2016

In a forum message directly targeting its most ardent fans, Spyderco announced major changes to its pricing policy scheduled to take effect on January 1st, 2016. Called ‘Minimum Advertised Pricing’ (MAP), the new policy is intended to prevent retailers from selling a Spyderco knife for less than 40% off the MSRP.

It’s a bold move for a company that must carefully balance the short and long-term interests of large retailers like Amazon, with those of smaller retailers, and knife enthusiasts.

Spyderco also says its prices to dealers and wholesalers will not increase on nearly all models for its upcoming 2016 catalog. Spyderco recently released its discontinued for 2016 list and the new catalog is expected to drop very soon.
