CRKT Adds Two Knives and One New Tool to Online Catalog

CRKT has just added three new products to its online catalog in a 2019 Product Preview. The company expanded its lineup of gear with a knife care tool, The Forged By War program obtains its latest fixed blade offering, and a new assisted opening folder bolsters the main line. CRKT expects all three knives to be launched and live at Blade Show this weekend.

Knife Maintenance Tool
Designed by Tom Stokes, the man behind multiple CRKT gadgets, the Knife Maintenance Tool is just that: a compact solution for most day-to-day knife care operations. The 2.2 oz. piece of kit includes T6 and T8 Torx bit drivers (two common screw sizes in knife construction), a flat head driver, tungsten carbide field sharpener, ceramic hone, and a bottle opener for good measure.

Portability is a key feature of the Knife Maintenance Tool. It manages to pack these knife care essentials into a product with an overall footprint of less than three inches long. An ideal solution for outdoorsmen or campers, it comes with a key ring for painless attachment to packs, pockets, zipper pulls, or even keys.

Du Hoc
Austin McGlaun has put out multiple designs in CRKT’s Forged By War program. His latest effort is another tactical fixed blade – but this time time McGlaun opted to draw up a full-size karambit. The curved five-inch cutting edge is accentuated by an angular swedge topside, and G-10 handle scales fill out the ergonomics in forward and reverse grips. The finger ring works in the traditional manner, but additional grooves and an extended ledge on the ring itself evolve this standard element of a karambit further.

CRKT Du Hoc

As with McGlaun’s previous Forged By War designs, the full tang Du Hoc is made from a slab of SK5 carbon steel. Karambits typically aren’t used for hard cutting chores but this steel choice means the Du Hoc will be able to soak up plenty of punishment out in the field. A thick powder coating has been applied to ward off corrosion and rust as well.

Gungho
The Gungho marks the first folder bladesmith Tom Krein has contributed to CRKT’s current catalog. An assisted open folder, the Gungho is a definite tonal shift to Krein’s outdoors-oriented fixed blades like the Mossback. It leverages the Outburst assisted-open mechanism for speedy deployment, and locks up with a stainless steel frame lock, which CRKT has seen success with on models like the Pilar.

CRKT Gungho

Krein may be best known in the knife community for his regrinding services, but he also has an impressive portfolio of custom folders and fixed blades. The Gungho takes inspiration from Krein’s Alpha custom, and emulates its simple, effective lines. Its 2.78-inch tanto blade prioritizes piercing ability and is made from 8Cr13MoV steel, black oxide-coated. A black G-10 front scale has been subtly rounded to allow for a hand-filling, comfortable grip.
