TOPS Releases Field-Proven Bladed Spork and Tactical Razor

Following TOPS Knives Viking-inspired Vi Ax announcement earlier this month, on the last day of August we see yet another side of the prolific Idaho-based knife maker. Today, TOPS announced one product that fans were clamoring for, and another they never saw coming. Say hello to the F.O.R.K. It and TAC-Raze from TOPS Knives.

TOPS F.O.R.K. It
The F.O.R.K. It is a combination fixed blade/bottle opener/spork that crams a lot of function into a 1.5 oz. package. The utensil was teased in 2015 when the company first posted the picture of a prototype on social media. TOPS fans have been longing for the release of this quirky eating tool ever since.

F.O.R.K. It

The F.O.R.K. It shouldn’t be confused for a novelty item. An early prototype (shown below) was field-tested by TOPS Knives’ Marketing Director Craig Powell in the Amazon Jungle last September. Powell says it became a favorite tool that he used every day in the remote South-Eastern tip of Colombia. “Having a civilized utensil available when other comforts of home are long gone can be a big morale boost,” Powell says. The F.O.R.K. It is made from 1095 steel, has a blade length of 2.63”, and comes with a kydex sheath that transforms the blade into a handle when eating with the spork end.

Since Powell’s adventures, the F.O.R.K. It has been lengthened to make it more comfortable in hand and skeletonized to save weight and allow for users to wrap the handle if they so choose. The production version also features a flatter grind with a less-pronounced blade tip than the test version.

TOPS TAC-Raze
The TAC-Raze delivers two big firsts for TOPS. It is the first folding knife they’ve released in 2016, and the first friction folder the company has ever produced. And while it may look like it’s meant for shaving, TOPS warns against it. With its G-10 scales and aggressive, recurved blade, it is a new entry in the small-but-growing sub-genre of tactical razors.

TAC-Raze

TOPS includes an attactive horizontal/vertical leather belt sheath with the TAC-Raze for easy access. The knife weighs 2.7 oz. without the sheath, has a 3.25” blade, and like the F.O.R.K. It is made from TOPS’ preferred 1095 carbon steel.
