Steel Will Turns Censor Fixed Blade into Latest Flipper Knife

Steel Will is wrapping up its 2019 release schedule with a pair of new knives. The big news is the addition of a flipper version of the Censor fixed blade; this line extension takes the unique profile of its predecessor and reorients it for a more portable design.

The core of the Censor fixed blade was its handle design: a steeply arched humpback shape with a prominent guard formed by deep finger grooves on the top and bottom parts of the handle. This profile makes it over intact to the folding Censor. Most of the materials have been carried over too, with the Censor folder featuring black G-10 scales over stainless steel liners; it uses a liner lock to secure the blade.

Steel Will retained another theme from the fixed blade Censor: multiple blade shape options. While the fixed blade could be had with four different blade shapes, Steel Will narrowed it down to two for the folder: a wide leaf-shaped blade or a leaner near-trailing point. No matter which option users choose they’ll always get D2 steel; coated or uncoated options are available for either. Weight for the leaf blade is 6 oz., while the trailing point is a little more svelte and tips the scales at 5.64 oz.

The Censor may be the headliner, but Steel Will is also expanding the options for the Intrigue model with premium versions of the knife. The premium Intrigue is available in both the standard and mini size that the budget-friendly models are, but features M390 blade steel and either G-10 or carbon fiber scales instead of FRN.

Both the Censor folders and premium Intrigues are available now.
