LionSteel Delivers New Slim, Solid Fixed Blade

If you’re hankering for a new fixed blade for the fall, the team over at LionSteel have you covered with their new release, the Ago. Designed by Gianluigi “Wilson” Simonella, the Ago approaches the EDC fixed blade concept from a balanced, quality-first place.

The “EDC fixed blade” category is quite diverse (much like its folding counterpart, now that we think about it). We see everything from dinky neck knives to more or less full-sized fixies positioned as daily carry pieces. The Ago arrives in the genre with a pretty ideal EDC blade length of 3.11 inches. That’s enough steel to work both indoors and out, and the hyperslim drop point blade keeps the profile unobtrusive, too.

LionSteel fashioned the Ago blade from their favorite steels, M390. There’s a high probability you know all about this stuff already, but just in case, here’s the crash course: European super steel, high edge retention, great stain resistance. M390 is by no means restricted to EDC designs but that seems to be the role in which its particular characteristics shine the brightest, and the genre in which it unquestionably has seen the most play over the years.

If LionSteel is known for one thing above others, it’s their attention to machining details. They pioneered production integral folders, and extended that same single piece construction philosophy to their fixed blades – the Ago included. The full tang here is encircled by a single piece handle made from one of several typically classy materials; the white Micarta option is, in our opinion, a particularly striking choice, but there is natural canvas Micarta too, as well as a couple different wood optioons.
