Boker Adds Voxnaes-Designed Little Friend to Fall Lineup

The prolific Jesper Voxnaes is always cooking up something, and one of his latest projects is the release of a new folder in the Boker Plus lineup. The Boker Plus Little Friend is full of familiar Voxnaes elements, but differentiates itself in its setup and details.

If you’re a fan of the Voxnaes/Boker stuff, you’ll notice the Little Friend bears big similarities to the F3.5, another collaboration between the Danish maker and the German manufacturer. It isn’t a one-to-one replica, however; the most significant difference is that the blade length is, appropriately enough for something with “Little” in the name, reduced. That being said, the Little Friend isn’t that little. Its blade length runs to just over 3 inches, still putting it in to the “mid-sized EDC” category for us. The Little Friend’s drop point blade is made from S35VN – not a common sight amongst the Boker Plus corral, but a welcome one, with a suite of characteristics that, while outpaced by newer and more exotic steels, still set the bar for what to expect in a premium knife for many years.

The Little Friend’s backspacer is made from brass

It’s hard to mistake that teardrop-shaped opening hole, a hallmark of Voxnaes designs from all over the industry. It provides one method of deployment but, unlike the F3.5, the Little Friend also comes with a flipper tab if you prefer to open it in a more fidget-focused way. Another Voxnaes touch can be seen in the presence of a forward finger choil, which lets users get right up underneath that 3-inch blade for maximum control.

The rest of the ergonomics are thoughtfully designed as well. Maroon G-10 scales front and back have some simple but effective cutouts of their own, and there’s a liner lock nestled underneath the off-side scale. The backspacer is made from brass, and it pairs nicely with the gold pivot collar, enlivening the already warm colors of the knife. Finally, a deep carry pocket clip rounds out the list of features (and a nylon pouch is also included). Boker lists the Little Friend’s weight at 4.78 oz.

You know the drill by now: there are staggered release windows for Boker’s European and North American arms. The German site says to expect it to arrive in August, while the Boker USA page gives us the usual “Available Soon.”
