Civivi Clingman is a New Clip Point EDC for 2025

Taylor Martin, the designer behind Best Damn EDC, has partnered with Civivi for this incoming folder. The Clingman, surprise surprise, is designed to be an everyday carry knife, albeit one with some standout visuals.

We all love a good clip point, right? Second in popularity only to the drop point, the clip has seen a lot of circulation and just as many variations, tweaks, and riffs. Martin’s take on the form has a bit of sweep to it, with a mightly long swedge on top. At 2.99 inches it is – you guessed it – perfectly set up for daily carry. The steel is Civivi’s de facto Nitro-V stainless, a steel whose solid performance metrics are commensurate with the role it is expected to play.

Some versions of the Clingman come with coated blades

On the Clingman, Martin is serving up deployment two ways: there’s a front flipper if you’re feeling fancy (or just have the fidget bug!), and thumb studs on both sides when you’re in the mood for something simpler. The last knife we wrote about from Civivi’s latest batch of releases was the Elementum slipjoint which, as the name intimates, is a lockless variation. We’re back into locking knife territory with the Clingman, however, which is packing a liner lock under the hood.

Four different handle scale options are being rolled out for the Clingman: burgundy G-10, black G-10, green Micarta, and guibourtia wood handles. Whether you go natural or synthetic, there is a faux bolster demarcated by a milling line along the Clingman’s scales; there is no Damascus option here, although there are versions with a blade coating if you prefer.

The Clingman is arriving later this month.
