James Brand Creates New Leadership Role as It Plans for the Future

The James Brand is adding a new member to its leadership team, Tobin Teichgraeber. Teichgraeber is being brought on in a new role designed to help the company capitalize on the momentum it has gained in recent years.

Teichgraeber’s official titles is Director of Product. “He will be responsible for the overall creation of our product line, including product line strategy, development and quality assurance,” James Brand writes in the official press release. These are always paramount concerns for a knife company, of course, and Teichgraeber’s recruitment shows that James wants to strengthen these aspects of their business. “As The James Brand continues its growth, it’s investing in product leadership, as product creation is at the very center of the brand.”

“I’ve been a big fan of The James Brand and am thrilled to be joining the leadership team. I have tremendous respect for the foundation that has been built at TJB in a short period of time,” says Teichgraeber, alluding the relative youth of the Portland, Oregon-based company. James Brand first appeared on the scene in 2013 with the Chapter and, while new releases were sporadic at first, by 2019 James were gaining major steam, updating the Chapter and expanding their catalog with a string of releases throughout that year.

“We are re-defining the everyday carry category with our modern, minimal point of view, but this presents many design and manufacturing challenges,” says James Brand CEO Mike Hoefer. Teichgraeber comes to James after working in high-level positions with companies like Puma, Adidas, and Salomon, so he has the understanding of the logistic obstacles any outdoors/lifestyle brand faces. “I look forward to contributing to the continuing evolution of the brand, and for this new adventure with the TJB team,” he says.
