Blade Show West is here, and there’s sure to be lots of exciting stuff on display – but that doesn’t mean that new knives aren’t releasing as we speak. One such is the TOPS Knives Lilith, an impressive, heavy duty fixed blade design that comes from the mind of a throwing knife expert.
Jason Johnson, who goes by Pro Knife Thrower online, is one of the world’s premier knife throwing experts. He’s been a presence in the online knife community since 2015, when his first YouTube video appeared. Since then, his reputation has only grown within the knife throwing field, but also in the custom knife scene as well. Johnson decided to try his hand at the craft, and makes all sorts of bladed implements, not just throwing knives. He even appeared on the Bill Goldberg-hosted Forged in Fire: Knife or Death, taking home top honors in the series’ second episode.
In short, Johnson has the chops to design for TOPs, and for his first collab with the company he created something pretty special. The Lilith is a stylized chopper with a 14-inch blade made from hardworking 1095 carbon steel. The blade’s look seems to be informed by the ancient Greek kopis, with its nasty recurve and emphatic, powerful forward section. It’s the kind of blade that any knife lover will immediately want to swing around in the wilderness.
Interesting details don’t stop at the blade. The most prominent ergonomic feature on the Lilith is the finger ring, which is not something you see every day on knives of this stature. The handle itself tapers to a narrow back end – an element that Johnson took directly from throwing knife design philosophy and implemented here to improve the Lilith’s balance. The tan Micarta scales are nice and chunky as per TOPS’s standard, and a Kydex dangler sheath is included.
This one is available now. TOPS also has a booth at Blade Show West, #101, so swing by to see what other goodies they have with them.
