Benchmade Osborne Gets MagnaCut in New Burnt Copper Line

Benchmade has dropped a new suite of special Osborne variations this month. The new Burnt Copper Aluminum sub-series brings an entirely new look into the long-running knife family, along with a very desirable blade steel.

Yes, we certainly do not need to discuss the Benchmade Osborne at this point, as it is easily one of the company’s most storied, famous models. But, seeing as it remains a personal favorite here at KnifeNews, we won’t pass up a chance to give this modern classic a brief precis: in short, the 940 is a super slim folder with a rad, all-purpose reverse tanto blade; the 945 delivers the same great design in a smaller package, while the 9400 spices things up with a full automatic deployment.

Those are the three primary Osborne configurations, and all three have been brought into the Burnt Copper line. Obviously, the name of this series comes from its most immediately noticeable change: the aluminum scales have been anodized to a rich, copper-like hue. It gives them a look that’s both rustic and rugged-looking – an aesthetic combo backed up by the battlewash finish on the blade, which has a pre-distressed look that should hide future wear and tear quite well.

Underneath the coating we’ve got MagnaCut blade steel. That’s right, the Burn Copper models are the very first Osbornes to be made with MagnaCut. It’s actually surprising it took Benchmade this long to implement the steel on this best-selling model, but it’s here now, offering bar-setting performance in a knife that is itself a bit of a bar-setter.

These Burnt Copper Osborne models are available now. They do not appear to be a special edition, at least in the strict, limited numbers sense.
