Blade Show West Turns 5 This Year

Blade Show West, younger brother to the venerable Blade Show in Atlanta, passes an important milestone this month as it runs for the fifth time.

Perhaps fittingly for a show that takes place out in what used to be America’s rugged frontier, Blade Show West had a bit of a rocky start. The first show was in 2018, but then, just after it gathered steam in 2019, COVID-19 put it on hold for a year. Furthermore, unlike the historically stationary Blade Show, West has had to move around a bit, beginning in Oregon, then moving to California, and, last year, landing in Salt Lake City, Utah – where it finds itself once again this year.

But despite these growing pains, Blade Show West seems to be coming into its own, and this year the exhibitor list includes lots of big names: Spyderco, CRKT, Tactile, Cold Steel, WE/Civivi, and more. You’ve got a good selection of custom makers and small shops too, including Hawk Knives, Jared Oeser, Three Rivers Manufacturing, and TJ Schwarz.

When and where makers/manufacturers reveal their new products has shifted over the years. It used to be that every big knife show held big reveals, but now, perhaps thanks to the prevalence of social media, product reveals can happen any time, anywhere. Still, a knife show is a great place to show off what’s new, so here’s hoping that we’ll see lots of fresh stuff rolled out for Blade Show West – if that’s the case, we’ll of course be covering those releases in detail here at KnifeNews. CRKT has already started the reveals, in fact, teasing an incoming, first ever Darriel Caston collab.

Blade Show West 2023 runs Friday October 13th – Saturday October 14th, from 10am – 6pm Mountain time each day.
