LionSteel Teams up with Emerson for Magnacut Karambit

It isn’t surprising to see a new SOLID integral knife headlining LionSteel’s SHOT Show 2022 reveal. But what is surprising is that this integral knife is a karambit, designed in conjunction with Emerson Knives. The L.E. One incorporates Emerson’s signature innovation, of course, but also packs in a cutting edge PM steel.

Karambits may not be the first thing you think of when someone mentions Emerson, but they are an integral (pun intended) part of their catalog, and have been for years. The L.E. One isn’t a direct adaptation of the Emerson karambit models; in fact, its hawkbill blade is larger than the Super Karambit‘s, measuring 3.23 inches long. The Wave is present and accounted for, providing a method of opening the knife as you pull it from your pocket; there’s also an ambidextrous opening hole and, because this is a LionSteel knife, the R.E.F. removable flipper tab as well.

But the knife tech doesn’t stop there. Instead of their go-to high performance steels like Elmax or M390, LionSteel opted to make the L.E. One’s blade from MagnaCut, which is undoubtedly the most talked about powder metallurgy steel of the last few years. The handle, made from a single piece of aluminum, comes in four different colors: black, brown, green, or red. The grip profile is nice and straightforward, and the reduction of hardware that comes with the the integral construction lets the shallow texturing on the “scales” take center stage. On the off-side we see the usual LionSteel aluminum frame lock bar, capped by a replaceable steel insert.

Emerson collaborations are few and far between; the company tends to keep its designs for its own compact lineup. And this is the first time LionSteel has worked with the famous U.S. shop directly.

LionSteel says the L.E. One will be available in about 40 days. No official USD price has been given, but the European listing on LionSteel’s site has the price set at €228 – about $258.
