PSA: the Shakan, a limited edition knife from We’s in-house team, is available now.
2.97 inches long, full flat ground, spear point: the Shakan’s blade quite evidently belongs in the broad everyday cutter use category. Made from CPM-20CV, it can pierce, slice, negotiate detail-intensive chores, and more, all while holding an edge and rebuffing corrosion thanks to its super steel composition. No surprises on the deployment side, either, with a flipper tab right where you’d expect it providing the sole, albeit ambidextrous, method of opening the knife.
The We Knife crew took advantage of the compact blade on the Shakan and gave it an equally svelte handle frame, not any bigger than it needs to be to accommodate all four fingers comfortable. The slab scales are made from titanium and come in multiple colorations. Two variants feature a spirograph milling pattern, one anodized blue, the other with a bronze ano that we first saw on the Kitefin in March 2020. Two other versions have three large, chamfered holes punched into the front scale (think like what was shown on the Civivi Banneret and you’re not far off).
Worth reiterating is that, at this point at least, the Shakan is a limited edition only – something We Knife Co. has done before with new models. Each of the four Shakan varieties are limited to between 200-300 pieces. Availability will thus be quite limited but it’s hard to say just how long these knives will be available on the primary market.
