Last week we wrote about the Perix, an Ostap Hel/Real Steel release that riffed on a design from fellow RSK collaborator Jakub Wieczorkiewicz/Poltergeist Works. Now Wieczorkiewicz has just unveiled a new RSK model of his own, the slipjoint Ventus.
The Ventus is the fourth member of a loose series of Wieczorkiewicz/RSK designs, a series that started with the Luna, then grew with the Stella, and Solis. Like these predecessors, it is a slipjoint knife with a thoroughly modern look – especially that blade. It’s what we’ve seen called a California clip (similar to what you see on the Buck 110), with a curving run to the tip that interrupts the fuller; a pretty cool touch in our opinion. The blade steel is N690Co., a classic recipe with solid performance characteristics.
We’ll get to the handle in a moment, but perhaps the most interesting element isn’t immediately apparent to the eye. The back spring component is something that RSK calls a “patent pending spring tension adjustment system.” It’s hard to get an idea for exactly how it will work at this point, but it looks like a way to tweak the pull of the blade to suit your preference.
The handle profile itself? Clean, made from TC4 titanium, with a sculpted titanium pocket clip too. The look is a muted one, letting the strong lines pop against the subdued slate color of the titanium; it is, in fact, the classic Poltergeist Works style.
If you’re curious about the Ventus, good news, you don’t have long to wait. It is going up for sale tomorrow, December 28th.
