Top 25 Best Selling Blades of 2017: #16 Microtech Tachyon III

TOP 25 BEST SELLING BLADES OF 2017: #16 Microtech Tachyon III
Presented by KnifeCenter.com

Last year, Microtech elevated the EDC framelock flipper by applying high-tech machining and next-level finishing work to Derek Munroe’s Sigil design. This year, the humble balisong got the same treatment, as Microtech pulled out all the stops for their Tachyon balisong.

“Throughout the year we’ve been releasing an increasing variety of serration and color configurations that will appeal to a broader audience within the balisong and knife community as a whole,” Microtech’s Brandon Herring tells us. “Microtech’s award winning production quality and an accessible price point, makes for a very compelling product in its category.”

Microtech put its attention to detail on display to evolve the latest iteration of Tachyon into one of the highest performing balisongs on the market. The handles are made from solid aluminum, for precision and rigidity, the 4.5-inch blade rotates out on ceramic bearings with a redesigned bearing race system for flex-free function, and the spring-loaded latch sits flush with the handle in a milled channel when not in use.

If you live in a jurisdiction that outlaws balisongs or just want to master the art in style, Microtech just released a Tachyon III trainer.

Visit KnifeNews tomorrow to find out which model is #15 on our countdown of the Top 25 Best Selling Blades of 2017.

ABOUT THE COUNTDOWN
The TOP 25 Best Selling Blades of 2017 is based on a ranking of year-to-date dollar sales per day of all non-kitchen cutlery at KnifeCenter.com. The Virginia-based dealer stocks the largest catalog of cutlery in the world and serves the most diverse customer base of any knife retailer.

We chose to remove knives available only at KnifeCenter.com from consideration. KnifeCenter.com Exclusives that would have otherwise made the list include:
the HAP40 Spyderco Delica in Mahogany Pakkawood
the HAP40 Spyderco Endura in Mahogany Pakkawood
the s35vn Orange Southard Positron
the s35vn Tanto Andre De Villiers Beast Flipper
the KnifeCenter.com Svord Peasant Knife Exclusives

Certain knives available for pre-order, namely the ZT 0055, Benchmade 87, and DPx HEST/F Urban were also purposefully excluded even though based on pre-orders it’s clear they are among the year’s most popular.
