We continue to tear through the new for 2025 TOPS Knives models with something a little bit different – or really, a lot different. The 3 Putt is the fixed blade company’s take on the classic golfer’s divot tool.
We’re not sure what the overlap between knife enthusiasts and golf enthusiasts is, but we know of at least one knife nut who is also a golf nut, and that’s Leo Espinoza. Evidently, the TOPS CEO can be found out on the links when he’s not putting sharp edges on big hunks of steel. So he wanted to combine his two loves and create this golfer EDC tool with the TOPS look and construction.
If you don’t know, a divot tool is used to repair gouges in the green after your swing; using the pronged end, you trace around the damaged area so that it can then be tapped gently back into place. Divot tools come in both one or two prong varietals, with two perhaps being more common – that’s what TOPS chose to give the 3 Putt. There is some additional functionality baked into the prongs: they are actually marked for range finding, so anybody who wants to do some manual measurements on the green can use their 3 Putt for that too.
And actually, if you look at the 3 Putt’s complete skeletonized profile, you can see that the whole thing is modeled to look like the Mini Scandi fixed blade. You may also note that there are two other important golf-centric functions the 3 Putt can accomplish: there’s a small stud on the butt end for scraping dirt from your cleats, and a bottle opener for cracking open a cold one in between holes.
The 3 Putt is available now.
