Zero Tolerance 0456 Voted Best New Manual Folder 2016

Presented by: Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpeners

The KnifeNews Dealers’ Choice Awards recognize extraordinary achievement in the production knife world. KnifeNews turned to knife dealers to determine the winners. With hundreds of new production knives passing through their hands and many hours spent interacting with end-users, dealers have the most comprehensive and informed perspective. 21 of North America’s top dealers cast their votes in 10 different categories to choose the best of the best in 2016.

We are pleased to announce that the Zero Tolerance 0456 is the winner of the KnifeNews Dealers’ Choice Award for Best New Manual Folder 2016. Votes cast by dealers indicated that other great new blades in this category include the Benchmade Crooked River, the Chris Reeve Knives Small Inkosi, the Kizer Gemini, and the Spyderco Bradley 2.

Apparently 0456 designer Dmitry Sinkevich doesn’t live by the saying ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. A gamble to distance the 0456 design from his best-selling collaborations like the 0450 and 0452 has paid off. “It’s completely different from his other designs. It has a big look to it,” says Zero Tolerance’s Susan Dundas. The unique 3.25-inch modified sheepsfoot blade is a far cry from the slender drop points of its stablemates. ZT paired this new cutting profile with a high performance CTS-204P blade.

The ZT0456 is based on a 2015 Sinkevich custom, the Pole. Dundas tells us the production team at Zero Tolerance brought out the big guns to do Sinkevich’s original justice. The machine work is a standout feature, with multifaceted 3D-sculpted handle scales and intricate milling creating an unforgettable look. With smaller details like the anodized gear tooth backspacer and unique pivot this production model rivals its custom inspiration. “This knife is cool, functional, and beautiful,” Dundas says.

The ZT0456 is precisely the kind of knife that only Zero Tolerance could pull off. “Making a production model like this – not everybody can do it. It takes a lot of work to produce the ZT0456, but it is worth it,” says Dundas. “The fact that this award was decided by the dealers is really cool. They interact with customers every day and obviously care a lot about the product.”
