Case Partners with Two Knife Makers for the Kyle Lamb Hunter

Case has revealed a new fixed blade offering, the Kyle Lamb Hunter. This knife is the latest in Case’s collaboration with Daniel Winkler, who worked with another maker, the eponymous Kyle Lamb, on the design.

The Kyle Lamb Hunter, obviously, falls into the hunting knife genre. Its blade, a modified sheepsfoot, is ready for the tough cutting chores a hunter comes up against; and as with many knives in that genre, it can also move into a generalist outdoors role as well. The blade is made from 80CrV2, a particular favorite of Winkler, and one that he used on his other Case collaborations as well. And while it lacks the more robust corrosion resistance of a stainless steel, the blade has been given a black coating to shore up this shortcoming.

Ergonomic considerations on the Hunter begin on the blade, with a massive, fully jimped forward finger groove and a corollary thumb ramp on the spine. There’s another deep finger groove underneath the guard on the handle itself, and from there the profile gentles down in a curve to the butt end. The canvas Micarta scales cover a skeletonized full tang that saves a little weight; the Kyle Lamb Hunter weighs 7.5 oz.

This isn’t Winkler’s first collaboration with Case: he signed on with the company in 2016 for a series of fixed blade designs that are collectively known as the American Hero Series. b Hunter is the latest knife in Case and Winkler’s American Hero Series. Each fixed blade in the series is co-designed by military personnel. The co-designer of this knife, Kyle Lamb, is a survival guru and founder of the knife company Viking Tactics. In fact, the including Kydex sheath comes with the Viking Tactics sword logo cut into the front of it.

The addition of the Hunter brings the total model count in the series up to five; there are three other knives and one ax.

The Kyle Lamb Hunter will be available to purchase in October.
