The KnifeNews Dealers’ Choice Awards recognize extraordinary achievement in the production knife world. KnifeNews turned to knife dealers to determine the winners. With hundreds of new production knives passing through their hands and many hours spent interacting with end-users, dealers have the most comprehensive and informed perspective. 21 of North America’s top dealers cast their votes in 10 different categories to choose the best of the best in 2016.
Best New Outdoor Fixed Blade
A knife is a trusted companion for any outdoor adventure. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking – these are all tasks that call for a reliable knife at your side. A sportsman looking for a new fixed blade in 2016 has a lot to consider.
In alphabetical order, here are the four new outdoor fixed blades that garnered the most votes. Visit KnifeNews.com tomorrow to find out which one is taking home the KnifeNews Dealers’ Choice Award for Best New Outdoor Fixed Blade 2016.
Bark River Knives Canoe
The Canoe was a collaborative effort between Mike Stewart of Bark River and Jim Nowka of American Knife Company. These two fixed blade gurus took an old, rare design from Marbles Knives and improved upon it with a full tang construction and modern materials.
Mora Garberg
With the Garberg, Mora finally gave their many fans something they’ve been asking about for years: a full tang Mora knife. This difference makes the Garberg the strongest knife that Sweden-based Mora has ever produced.
Spyderco Sprig
The Spyderco Sprig brings the traditional bird and trout knife design into the 21st century with super premium S90V steel and refined ergonomics that incorporate a finger choil. It was designed by custom maker Phil Wilson and is modeled after his popular custom fixed blades.
TOPS Brakimo
Professional adventurer Joe Flowers brought his expertise to bear on the TOPS Brakimo. It was designed to be a primary knife for bushcraft tasks and more. A beefy, 5.25” blade allows it to double as a back-up machete for clearing brush in addition to performing traditional camping chores.
