Civivi Fixed Blade and Folder Arriving around Christmas

Alongside the recently announced December We Knife Co. pieces, we’ve got a pair of Civivi models slated for the same release window. The new offerings are comprised of an in-house fixed blade design, and the first Civivi collab from TuffKnives.

Midwatch

Fixed blades are much less common in the Civivi lineup than folders, so any time a new one drops our ears perk up. The Midwatch comes across as a back up outdoors/self-defense knife, or possible a larger EDC if you’re feeling spicy. The 3.36-inch clip blade has a classic edge profile: that enduring mix of straight edge, belly, and pierce-worthy tip. The N690Co blade steel gives plenty of edge life and stain resistance while keeping the Midwatch within Civivi’s general wallet-friendly remit – albeit at the higher end of that spectrum with an MSRP of $129.30.

The handle has a hump-backed, arched profile and terminates on the butt end in a karambit-style finger ring, which has plenty of mundane uses but certainly brings the aforementioned tactical applications back to mind as well. In terms of scale materials there are three different flavors of burlap micarta on offer, as well as carbon fiber on the Damascus blade variant (which has a higher sticker price).

ODD 22

Geoff Blauvelt, also known by his shop moniker Tuffknives, joins forces with Civivi for the ODD 22. This is a compact little EDC folder that brings an uncommon blade shape to the genre: the trailing point. At 2.97 inches it might be the cutest trailing point we’ve ever seen, but regardless it’s ready to work and made from no-nonsense 14C28N, so edge retention and stain resistance will be both adequate and reliable.

A very simple handle is paired to this somewhat exotic blade shape, a curving profile with a nice deep finger groove under the guard. You’ve got your choice of three different handle materials for the ODD 22: black G-10, green Micarta or, on the fancy schmancy Damascus model, Cuibourtia wood.

Civivi is aiming at a December release for the Midwatch and ODD 22.
