GiantMouse Nazca Opts for MagnaCut in Latest Limited Edition

The run of GiantMouse special editions continues with a new Nazca release. This varietal’s headline features are the carbon fiber handle construction and (you guessed it) a MagnaCut blade.

First released in the summer of 2022, the Nazca was notable for having an Axislike as its locking mechanism. To this day it is still the only GiantMouse model with such a lock, which allows it to be completely ambidextrous and, of course, has that particular flavor of fidget factor that comes only with Axislike deployment. Besides what was going on under the hood, the Nazca was also a stylistic departure for GiantMouse designers Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes; the almost piratical harpoon blade fell in line with prior GiantMouse EDCs in terms of utility, but it looked unlike any other knife in the lineup.

All of the visual characteristics are preserved on this new Nazca, but the blade has been given that most sought-after of upgrades, and is now made from CPM-MagnaCut. We’ve sung the praises of this steel time and time again, so it’s hard to find anything new to say about its impressive all-around performance. Instead, we’ll just say that we like the name “MagnaCut;” it’s a catchy name, much better than the stark letter/number monikers most steels get these days.

Another, subtler advantage an Axislike lock brings is that it allows for completely symmetrical scale design. This is an especially nice feature when the handle material is something luxe, like the carbon fiber in use here. Sure, carbon fiber is not an uncommon material at this point, but it’s still a definitive premium handle material, as nice to hold as it is to look at. The Nazca’s cuts-n’-curves style profile is present and accounted for here as well, as is the reversible wire pocket clip.

The limited edition MagnaCut Nazca released today. It is a pretty small batch, too, restricted to just 350 pieces.
