Paul Munko has rolled out his first design with Kansept Knives, the Cosmos. With the mid-size Cosmos Munko continues to solidify the personal style he has been honing since kicking off his knife career with the Comet.
Compared to the extra large Mystic, Munko’s last production knife release, the Cosmos scales things back a bit, with a blade length of 3.58 inches. Still plenty of edge for a mid-size designation, and the blade shape itself is characteristically dramatic, a stylized wharnie with a concave spine and hefty, albeit dropped, tip. There are no thumb studs here to break up the look; heck, there’s barely a flipper tab, as Munko gave this one what they’re calling a “micro flipper tab,” a positively diminutive inline design that works like something bigger without affecting the profile as much.
Meanwhile, it’s business as usual for the blade steel – but this is 2023, so “business as usual” means CPM-20CV super steel, a high end formulation that holds an edge with the best of them. This is the first time Munko, who has previously employed 154CM, S35VN, and REX45, has implemented the stuff, however.
The sinuous, titanium bolstered handle (with scales made from one of several materials, including a timascus option) is where Munko’s house style is clearest on the Cosmos. A sculpted titanium pocket clip is the final detail on this 3.49 oz. knife.
The Cosmos is available now. Munko is currently hosting a Cosmos giveaway over on Instagram if you’d like a chance to get this bad boy for free.
