Instagram is the social media platform for the knife community, for obvious reasons. As an app centered around pictures, it’s the perfect way to show off your latest acquisition, or, if you’re a knife maker, your newest projects. But knife company accounts are also at the mercy of the Instagram content algorithms, which can sometimes mean their accounts get flagged and taken down for reasons that are often nebulous, to say the least.
The latest victim of this arbitrary arbitration process is We Knife Co., whose main page went down last week. The We Knife crew is still trying to get their page back, but in the meantime an official company post on the We Knife Fan Photos IG page surfaced yesterday morning, informing us that for now We will be making its official announcements through this page until the matter with the main page is resolved. We Knife Fan Photos is a long-running page dedicated, naturally, to photos of We Knife Co. blades submitted by users. It’s a fairly large account, so there’s a good chance you already follow them; but if not, throw them a follow.
Obviously, this isn’t the first time a knife company has had an issue on IG. Medford recently had to restart their account, and before that Spartan Blades’s account was hacked, not to be recovered. It’s a pretty wild world out there.
