Facing an armed opponent with an inferior weapon or without a weapon at all, may seem like a hopeless situation. But these British Royal Marine Commandos are trained to take back the upper hand. In this video, the Commandos combine controlled aggression with the element of surprise to disarm an opponent.
There’s no exercising of deadly force in the demonstration, but the training, says Royal Marine Henry Taylor, is for real. “The guys are giving a demonstration of the skills and techniques that you use in case you find yourself toe to toe with the enemy without a weapon. You have to be able to defend yourself.”
The video was shot in the middle of Waterloo station, a crowded commuter rail hub in London as part of London’s “Poppy Day” held last week.
