Revote for Best New High-End Folder 2019

Presented by: Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpeners

KnifeNews is asking you, out readers, for help with Readers’ Choice Awards one last time. We’d like you to vote again for the Best New High-End Folder 2019 (poll below). We made a mistake in choosing our candidates and want to have the most representative poll for this important category.

Choosing which knives to nominate for each Readers’ Choice Award category is more art than science. We take multiple factors into consideration, but chief among these is availability. As knife fans will know, just because a knife is revealed doesn’t mean it can be purchased. Sometimes it takes months or years for an announced knife to make its way to users. And if it’s not being used, it can’t qualify for our awards. This is why the CRK Impinda, despite being announced in 2018 and arriving at the very end of that year, didn’t appear in those awards. We chose to include it for your consideration in 2019 because this was when it truly began to be available, and it managed to take home a well-deserved win.

This year we made a mistake. On the Best New High-End Folder 2019 poll, we included the Chris Reeve Knives Sebenza 31 as an option. The Sebenza 31’s announcement was one of the big stories of the year, but the knife hasn’t begun shipping yet. Amidst the craziness in compiling the polls and the candidates this year, we neglected to take this into account, and the Sebenza 31 ended up as a named option on the list when it didn’t really qualify. There’s every chance that it could be on the 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards ballot, but we should have excised it from this year’s list.

So as you can see we’ve updated the poll below. The poll will run until 9am EST Monday, December 9th, so be sure to get your revote in before then – and the announcement will still occur that afternoon as scheduled. In the meantime, if you have any friends in the knife community who would want to participate in the revote please let them know. We sincerely thank you for taking the time with this and look forward to seeing which knife you vote for!
