SHOT Day 1: Spartan Blades Clandestina is Latest Collaboration with Harsey

Spartan Blades brought a new headliner collaboration fixed blade to SHOT Show 2024, the Clandestina, a fixed blade that hearkens to a long tradition of military knives, but infused with modern design sensibilities and materials.

At the core of the Clandestina concept is the blade shape, an aerodynamic spear point that measures 5.5 inches long. Harsey has an impressive history of work for all sorts of demanding military clientele, so you can bet this length and shape were chosen with great purpose and vision. The Clandestina’s blade is big enough to be fully capable in scenarios both dramatic and domestic, outdoors and in; it is, in other words, a high-performance workhorse, and it comes with a blade steel to match: CPM-MagnaCut.

This isn’t the first time MagnaCut has appeared in the Spartan Blades lineup, and we figure it won’t be the last, but it’s worth noting that this highly capable steel, formulated specifically for knives, can fit a hard use/tactical piece just as well as it can EDC-style designs. Rust is typically a non-issue even for uncoated MagnaCut, but the coating here seems less about corrosion resistance than it is keeping a low profile, allowing the Clandestina to live up to its name.

Harsey’s pared back handle is a classic tapered shape, with two large finger grooves beneath the guard. The contoured Micarta scales are laid over a rugged full tang frame and adorned with a light, but effective, diagonal line texturing. A nylon sheath is included with the Clandestina, but it looks like Kydex options will also be available at some point.

As is, the Clandestina is available right away – refreshing, isn’t it?
