We Knife Co. Swiftfin Goes Big on Blade and Details

Today we’re taking a look at the one of the latest deluxe folders on the way from We Knife Co., the Swiftfin. A knife from the in-house crew, the Swiftin benefits from the materials and detailing of We’s top of the line stuff.

Back in the early days of WE Knife Co., before they became the main stage heavy hitter they are these days, the company cut its teeth with a serious of large folding knife releases before diversifying with both smaller in-house work and collaborations of all different sizes. Their very first We-branded release was the 601, which had a blade length of 3.8 inches. The Swiftfin, although developed in the modern We way, brings to mind the 601 and its kind with some big knife specs.

In straightforward terms, with the Swiftfin we’ve got a big boy, with a 3.8-inch drop point blade of its own. That blade is broad, and made even more imposing by the presence of a harpoon-style swedge. This formidable slicer is equipped with both flipper and opening cutout, and made from CPM-20CV, the line-standard super steel over at We Knife HQ. Add all these specs together and you’ve got a knife that will deliver big indoors and outdoors cutting performance, with plenty of edge life and stain resistance too, to keep things relatively simple maintenance-wise.

There’s nothing too crazy about the Swiftfin’s handle profile: if you’ve spent any time in the knife hobby, this arcing, single finger groove design will be familiar to you, and for good reason, as it’s a time-tested performer. It’s in the layering of details that the We touch can be seen: the chamfers are all given a diagonal texture, but the slab flats are bead blasted, and each of the twelve decorative holes cut into the scales have their own interior step as well. If you want to really fancy things up, there is a Swiftfin with a gold/blue color scheme to the handle, or the Damasteel model with flamed ti look.
