Many manufacturers have already showed off their 2022 lineups before SHOT Show, but Buck was still one of the big mysteries. To coincide with SHOT day 1, they finally unveiled their lineup for the new year, showing off a svelte collection that pays special attention to a big birthday for one of their standby models, the 112 Ranger.
There is no lack of variants for the 110 Folding Hunter and its almost equally legendary little brother, and more are on the way. Like the Slim Pro models before them, the 110 and 112 Sports transform these classic knives into modern EDCs; in the case of the Sport models that means Torx hardware, aluminum frames, Micarta scales, deep carry pocket clips, and thumb stud opening blades made from S30V steel.
110 Slim Pro TRX and 112 Slim Pro TRX
Releasing alongside the Sport models are the Slim Pro TRX variants. These are, essentially, remasters of the first Slim Pro knives, now with Torx hardware for easier maintenance and a redesigned pocket clip. The original Slim Pros have been discontinued and these will be the standard model in that line going forward.
2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the 112 Ranger, which means that it’s getting a limited edition release with a special medallion inlay on the show side scale and a unique blade stamp. Buck says that these Rangers will only be produced throughout 2022, so collectors stay frosty.
2022 Legacy Collection Feat. the Saunter
Speaking of collectors, Buck has five new Legacy Collection pieces releasing this year. The Legacy Collection consists of limited production run knives, usually fancy variants of existing models – and four of this year’s batch fit that description: there’s a Vintage Tribute 112 Ranger made from the same materials Buck used in 1972, a 212 Ranger fixed blade with S45VN steel and ironwood handle, a Squire with black burlap Micarta scales and S35VN steel, and a Micarta/S45VN Sprint Ops Pro. But alongside these returning faces is the 250 Saunter, a never-before-seen slipjoint design making its debut in the Legacy Collection. The Saunter has full marbled carbon fiber scales and a 2.5-inch spear point blade made from S35VN.
