Newcomer NocKnives Outlines Plans for the Future

New knife label NocKnives has been building up a catalog of futuristic, angular blades that cater to users at multiple price points. Their upcoming projects include another addition to their S Collection of products.

“NocKnives was built in August 2018,” says the company’s founder Nic. NocKnives is located in Yiangjiang, China, a city with a history of knife making that they tell us stretches back over 1000 years. Yangjiang has claim to some big and up-and-coming names like WE, Reate, and Artisan Cutlery. Nic says that Nocknives wants to develop a diverse catalog as it grows. ” We are considering fixed blades¬†or other types.”

NocKnives plays up the planes and angles on releases like the MT01. This is larger folding knife that reigns in the dimensions to create an ultraslim knife equal parts futuristic and industrial. The blade itself is slick and narrow, a highly pointy wharncliffe shape that measures 3.75 inches and is made from M390 steel. A pair of thumb studs on either side function as the ambidextrous opening system.

Both the underlying frame and the colored overlay on the MT01 are made from titanium, and the lock is a titanium frame lock with steel interface. A sculpted titanium pocket rounds out the list of premium knife features on the knife, and NocKnive’s drive to minimize the dimensions of what is, in fact, a fairly large knife pay dividends: even with that full-size blade the MT01 weighs just 3.4 oz.

The newest Nocknives release is the S09, which goes all out on the technical style with a massively oversized flathead pivot screw. Its 3.7 inch blade has been ground into a complicated, almost harpoon-like shape and is made from Vanax steel, another nitrogen-enriched offering from Bohler-Uddeholm. According to Nic, the next S Collection release will come later this year. “The S Collection is the highlight. Every year.” On the other end of the price spectrum is the DG04, a front flipper with 440C and a sub-$100 price point.
